Unwanted Chemicals in our Bodies – Phthalates

Phthalates, or more precisely, phthalate esters are derived from phthalic acid. They are used as plasticisers. Plasticisers are added to plastics to alter the properties of the plastic, making more transparent, flexible, etc).

Most (luckily) are harmless but some are harmful to health and have been banned form children’s toys.

The Man Made Human Chemical Store

Every Sunday, I enjoy sitting down to read the Sunday papers. In the UK, these are packed with supplements and mini papers. The largest on the market is the Sunday Times and there is really enough information in it to last a good week. A few weeks back, one of its supplements, (the Sunday Times Magazine …. I think it was) contained an excellent article.

The article dealt with chemicals inside us. It detailed a number of man made chemicals that are found in everyday items and that bio accumulate in our bodies…..
