I had the fortunate opportunity to be a part of an Elluminate session with Sir Ken Robinson a couple of weeks ago. The event was organized by Steve Hargadon through LearnCentral — a marvelous resource for events like these and more. If you don’t know who Ken Robinson is, and have never seen his now-famous TEDTalk, you can view it here (apologies – I had hoped to embed it in this post but it appears that I cannot). Steve Hargadon was interviewing Sir Ken for his series on The Future of Education, and specifically about the ideas contained in his new book, The Element, a follow-up to Robinson’s previous book, Out of Our Minds (a fantastic read, by the way). If you are interested, you can read and / or play the entire Elluminate session through the appropriate links here — it has been fully archived for your perusal (full Elluminate, audio-only, and chat text).
The event itself was memorable and inspiring, as anything involving Sir Ken always is. There were some major take-aways for me that specifically are applicable not only to teaching and learning in general, but to how we deal with creativity in our classrooms.
