Visualizing data helps students see patterns and trends and deepens their understanding of the dynamic nature of economics. The site Many Eyes allows students to enter their own data sets and choose ways to present this information. While Many Eyes is online, amCharts offer free applications that you can download to construct more traditional bar, line and pie charts. Gapminder provides a wealth of data and presents it is a dynamic and engaging manner that will have students riveted. You can now download the application and view data when offline. Visual Economics is a collection of visually stimulating data of a variety of topics though most data is from the US. They call their presentations infographics and range for the cost of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to government spending by the last few US presidents. Students will find exploring these sites fascinating and open a whole new world of statistics to them.
