Researchers are going to using paw prints and tiger faeces to revaluate the number of tigers found in the wild. Sending ecologists and zoologists into the field to count tigers is not a practical measure and using camera traps is quite expensive. The research found that less than a 7% difference existed between existing methods and using paw prints and faeces as markers for individual animals.
