Exploring Sustainability
We all get, as anthropologists, that it takes lots of different ways to understand why people do what they do and what they’re like. The past, the present, the biology, the language—we’ve always understood that a variety of lines of evidence can help enrich our under- standing of something. This is a sustainability message too. In sustainability, what we have to get across is that there are not only multiple lines of information that we need to incorporate, but there are multiple ways of knowing the same information. Egypt – want to know more about what anthropology has to say?
Lorenz Khazaleh of antropologi.info has written a wonderfully comprehensive post on what anthropologists are saying about the uprising in Egypt. He includes videos, links and comments from more than ten anthropologists, and also includes views from political economists, sociologists and historians. Khazaleh also includes a link to the American Anthropological Association’s statement in support of Egypt. A great resource!
